It sounds paradoxical at first. Why should print functionality be made available in an e-commerce application, e.g. in an online shop? It goes without saying that the customer should not be distracted while purchasing.
On-demand publishing services producing output that supports the purchasing decision are being offered more frequently and in greater variety - for example, individualized data sheets, success-stories or high-quality print pages of the selected product in the shopping cart.
Many touchpoints of this type can be digitally integrated on websites. The extra impetus during the purchasing process should not be underestimated: while the selected products are in the shopping cart or listed in a relatively unclear manner, a "Print OnDemand" sheet with further information on the product is displayed simultaneously in a graphically appealing format.
